The Academic programme:
This programme consists of nine levels ranging from beginner to
advanced. Written work from textbooks make up 50% of the programme,
while lectures, other materials, and periodic activities account for the
rest.
Written and verbal exams are held and intended to assess each student’s
performance. Weekly assignments are also included to help sharpen
skills.
TEACHING LEVELS
The three major levels of Arabic instruction offered are summarised
below. The estimated time to master each stage is 80 classroom hours in
a group, or 40 hours private tuition, with three stages per level.
1- BEGINNER:
The Beginner level can be characterised by the learner's ability for
basic communicative exchanges. The course consists of basic grammar as
well as essential vocabulary. The novice uses the beginner’s textbook
for 60% of the course, and the remainder is a mixture of materials
developed by the instructors. This level consists of three stages:
beginner A, beginner B, and beginner C.
Beginner A:
By completing this level, students will be able to understand simple
Arabic instruction in the classroom, and can speak the simple language
of daily life made of two or three exchanges.
They will be able to read and write simple words and use them in simple
sentences. They might need help from the teacher.
Beginner B:
By completing this level, students will be able to understand a series
of sentences and questions in daily language. They will be able to
express themselves by producing simple questions and answers. They will
be able to describe people, things, and places.
They will be able to use language to ask for permission, requests, or
help.
Beginner C:
By completing this level, students will be able to understand
paragraphs including instructions, messages, and conversations at a normal
pace.
They will be able to communicate in oral or written language in simple
exchanges and answer personal questions about likes and dislikes,
feelings, wants, etc.
At this level students will begin to formulate their own vocabulary that
is not dictated to them by their instructor.
2- INTERMEDIATE LEVEL:
The intermediate level can be characterised by the learner's ability to
communicate with the language by combining learned elements, handling a
larger number of topics, engaging in communicative exchanges through
sentences, and following a conversational direction set by a partner.
This level consists of three stages : intermediate A, intermediate B,
and intermediate C.
Intermediate A:
By completing this level, students will be able to understand oral
or written passages at normal speed.
They can engage in simple oral or written conversations, understand
written texts, short stories, and functional texts.
Intermediate B:
By completing this level, students will be able to communicate about
their experiences, plans, daily activities, interviews, hobbies, and
explain their opinions.
They can read texts with comprehension about past, present, or future
events and understand extracts from newspapers or TV. They will show
self-confidence when performing these tasks.
Students can compose simple paragraphs by using memorised vocabulary and
dictionaries.
Intermediate C:
By completing this level, students will be able to understand spoken
or written prose and extracts from different sources.
Students develop their ability to express events or experiences in the
different tenses, and can be understood easily. Students can use
descriptive language to write about events.
3- ADVANCED LEVEL:
The advanced level can be characterized by the learner's ability to
describe and narrate events in several time frames, sustain paragraph
length discourse, and to some extent direct and lead discussions.
At the uppermost stage, you will be able to speak at length on a wide
range of topics with developed arguments and hypotheses, all with a
consistent level of accuracy. This level is divided into three stages:
advanced A, advanced B, and advanced C.
4- Advanced A:
By completing this level, students will be able to understand the
language at normal speed including short news from newspapers, radio, or
TV.
They can participate orally in debates in subjective or objective
topics. Students will understand and produce fictional short stories.
5- Advanced B:
By completing this level, students will be able to understand
various materials such as news, interviews, films, cassettes, and they
will understand the feelings and emotions behind the language.
They will discuss facts, ideas, and experiences and read and write
topics for enjoyment or information. They can choose the appropriate
sources as references.
6- Advanced C:
By completing this level, students will be able to understand the
language, express facts and comprehend literature.
They can discuss a wide range of topics factual or fictional.
Arabic programme for special purposes:
This programme includes courses on Yemeni dialect, Arabic calligraphy,
press language, classical Arabic, and Arabic poetry.
This programme can be easily molded to the individual needs of the
student.

The institute utilizes the Standard Arabic learning textbooks. These

The institute will
determine the suitable texts for each student or a group depending
on their needs.
If a student is currently studying Arabic at a university, our
teachers can also help them continue studying with their current
textbooks to help them stay on track. This would be in addition to
the necessary syllabi being taught at our institution, which include
the following:

- Arabic grammar (5 books)
- News Book (3 books)
- Speaking Exercises
- Yemeni Dialect
- Arabic Aesthetics for Advanced Learners
- Arabic Poetry for Advanced Learners
Along with these requisites, we choose subjects that compliment the
students' capabilities and enable them to pursue their language
goals more effectively.
Tests & Evaluations:
Placement Exams:
Initially there will be a placement exam for students who have
already undertaken Arabic language courses. This test is to asses
the student background and knowledge of required subjects in order
to place them at the appropriate level of study.
Weekly Evaluations:
Students also take weekly quizzes aimed at testing their
comprehension of lessons learned that week.
Achievement Tests:
Students take a final exam in order to move on to the next level of
study.
The marking scheme is as:
Distinction 90%- 100%
Very good 80% - 89%
Good
70% - 79%
Pass
60%- 69%
Overall grading also depends on the following:
